There are so many different ways to make tassels! Here is a simple, but very effective way to achieve nice thick tassels.
Here I used 2mm 3-ply rope. You can go thicker or thinner & change up the colors — so many options!
- Wrap the cord around a book about 25 times
- Using a separate piece of cord, tie Overhand Knots tightly on one side of the wrapped bundle
- Pull the bundle off the book and cut through the opposite loop end
- Using a separate piece of cord, make a Wrap Knot about 1 inch below the top of the tassel
- Cut cords to the desired length and un-twist or brush out the rope for a smooth look — or leave as is
- To add a hanging loop, push a separate cord through the top loop and tie 2 Overhand Knots tight to the tassel and 1 Overhand Knot with both cords
These are fun to add to wall hangings, weavings, plant hangers, pillows... simple but cute, right?! Let me know if you want to see more tassel videos — we can get very detailed!
